What to Bring

Planning for your trip and bringing the right stuff will ensure that you have a comfortable and safe day on the river. Below is a good check list of items to bring for your trip. Although the water is generally warm in Costa Rica, you can still get cold on cloudy days or after being wet for many hours, and proper kayaking apparel will be highly helpful.

  • Dry top or paddling jacket.
  • Bathing suit board shorts
  • Water shoes, or sandals with heal straps
  • Lightweight and easy to dry clothes (poly-fibers work best)
  • Extra clothes and a towel for changing at the takeout
  • Sunscreen in a small bottle for the river
  • Waterbottle
  • Bug repellent
  • River snacks
  • Small dry bag for a camera/ phone if you want to take pictures during breaks
